Bio

During my first 30 years I was busy with my formal music education. I have been studying and professionally playing piano for 43 years. Attending Gdansk Academy of Music (Poland), and Indiana University Jacob School of Music culminated with Master of Music, and Doctor of Music degrees in Piano Performance. Those years provided me with many opportunities to play professional concerts and recitals throughout Europe and USA. I have been exposed to many world-class pianos during my travels.

Eventually the curiosity about the piano and its characteristics as an instrument have led me to pursue the piano technology course of action. Through the years my piano technician's skills have been successively shaped and perfected by my mentor, one of the best piano technicians in the world, my friend Stephen Shaver. He has tought me everything I know about piano technology and care for pianos; small ones, big ones, upright and grand pianos that "lived" in small practice rooms, faculty studios, people's homes, recording studios, or big concert stages and auditoriums. Everything I know about the piano maintenance and piano care I owe to Stephen, for he has shared with me all of his knowledge and experiences in this field. He was my best teacher as far as the piano technology field is concerned, and I am eternally grateful for his guidence, sharing of his immenced talent, and his friendship.

Thus, in 1993, I became a professional piano technician with a vast practical knowledge of piano literature, piano technology, and experience with tuning, repair, regulation, rebuilding, and voicing of many brands of pianos that are currently on the market. Since that time I have done numerous rebuilding projects mostly with grand pianos. I have "brushed elbows" with some of the greatest artists of our times in the classical as well as popular music fields. Thanks to the association with Indiana University Jacob School of Music I have had numerous opportunities to work on big concert stages preparing (tuning, regulation, repair, stringing, voicing, etc.) the Steinway Concert Grand pianos for significant world-class events. Helping local musicians of international statue (Joshua Bell, Edward Auer, John Mellencamp and others) to achieve the best possible piano sound during their recording sessions brought yet another type of valuable experience. The local Buskirk-Chumley Theater, which hosts numerous performances of many local and visiting artists, also acquired my piano technology services which match the highest standards of today's music industry.

In the late August 2014 Stephen Shaver has retired as the Head Piano Technician of the Indiana University Jacob School of Music. Consequently, the Administration of Jacob School of Music appointed me as an Interim Event and Performance Piano Technician. This gives me an opportunity to continue and expand Stephen Shaver's legacy, cultivated by him for 38 years.

In other words I have been blessed with so many opportunities and positive experiences that piano technology has brought to my life. I am still looking forward to expanding my piano technology horizons, and possibly meet you in the not-so-distant future, and help you to make your piano sound the best it can. This is the "Quality You Want".
